INTRODUCTION
This course is designed for beginners seeking foundational skills in sustainable farming through propagation technique. It is relevant across industries, offering essential knowledge in plant propagation while addressing broader aspects of sustainable agriculture, workplace safety, and community engagement. Participants will become well-suited for roles in plant cultivation, nursery management, and landscaping services. As industries increasingly prioritise sustainable farming, the skills learned in efficient plant propagation enhance expertise and employability, opening up opportunities in the agricultural sector.
PROGRAMME DURATION: Full-time: 2 days (16 hours)
COURSE OUTLINE & PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
On completion of this training module learners would have learned the following knowledge and ability of basic level of standard pastry making:
Level 1 LO1: Understand the guidelines in identifying parent plants for propagation LO2: Understand the methods for planting and caring newly propagated plants LO3: Understand the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) guidelines of plant propagation
Level 2
LO1 Understand the methods to treat plant materials for effective contamination control
LO2 Understand various plant medias toward aftercare propagation management
LO3 Understand the relevant safety guidelines required for horticultural tasks
MODE OF DELIVERY Face-to-Face: Consist of lectures, interactive activities, guided discussions, practical practice, and self assessments/tests
ASSESSMENT MODES AND SCHEDULE: Hands - On, Oral and Written assessments
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The basic entry requirements will ensure that learning is pitched at a correct level:
- Basic requirement is Minimum Primary to early Secondary level be able to listen and write English as a proficiency level of the Employability skills workforce skills qualification (ES WSQ LV2) workplace Literacy.
- Minimum service industrial experience for at least 1-2 years or have prior experience in similar capacity.
- Learners who are interested to learn to propagate plant and interest in sustainable landscaping.
ATTENDANCE CRITERIA Student must achieve 100% in attendance
AVERAGE TEACHER TO STUDENT RATIO 1 : 20
